Ms. Angela Hi`ilei Kawelo
Executive Director
Biography: Hi‘ilei, a native of Kahalu‘u, O‘ahu recently became Paepae o He‘eia’s Executive Director after having served as an educator, facilities manager and Kū Hou Kuapā Coordinator for the organization for over 6 years. Raised in Kahalu‘u by her skilled fishing family, she has been a student to the art and science of lawai‘a, and the Kāne‘ohe Bay her entire life. She is a 1995 graduate of Punahou School, and also received a Bachelors of Science degree in Biology from the University of Hawai‘i. |

Mrs. Mehana Makainai
Fiscal Manager
Biography: Mehana, a native of Kailua, O‘ahu took on the role of fiscal manager for Paepae o He‘eia in August of 2007. She is a 2001 graduate of the Kamehameha Schools who holds a BA in Hawaiian Studies and a Masters in Business Administration both from the University of Hawai‘i. Mehana first volunteered at He‘eia fishpond back in the early 90s with her father and has since returned to help with the continued restoration efforts. |

Mr. Keli`i Kotubetey
‘Āina Momona Coordinator
Biography: Keli‘i, a native of Kailua, O‘ahu currently works as Paepae o He‘eia’s ‘Āina Momona or CBED Coordinator. As such this former educator and fiscal manager of the organization is now responsible for bringing awareness of the fishpond to the community while also leading the production and sale of He‘eia fish and limu. Keli‘i is a 1996 graduate of Kamehameha Schools who received a BA in Economics from Whitman College and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Hawai‘i. |

Mr. Jay Peloso
Kū Hou Kuapā Coordinator
Biography: Born and raised in Kapālama, O‘ahu, Jay has been volunteering at He‘eia Fishpond since he graduated from Kamehameha Schools in 1996. He was later employed by Paepae o He‘eia and continues to work as the organization’s Kū Hou Kuapā Coordinator. As such Jay is responsible for overseeing site maintenance and wall refurbishment. When not at the fishpond, Jay is a full time Firefighter for the Honolulu Fire Department. He received a BA in Social Science from Hawai‘i Pacific University and is the proud father of a daughter and son. |

Ms. Jamie Makasobe
‘Āina Momona Project Technician
Biography: Jamie Anne was raised a majority of her upbringing in Kāne‘ohe and currently resides at Paiko in Maunalua Bay, O`ahu. Jamie works as the ‘Āina Momona Project Technician and in the past has served as both an Office Manager and a Communications Coordinator for Paepae o He‘eia. She received her BS in Public Relations and Electronic Media from the University of Oregon and brings these skills to Paepae o He‘eia’s marketing projects. |

Ms. Brenda Asuncion
Internship Coordinator
Biography: Brenda was raised in Waipahu, O‘ahu and currently resides in Waimānalo. She began volunteering at He‘eia fishpond while pursuing her undergraduate degree and has since been hired as POH's Internship Coordinator. Brenda is a 2003 graduate of ‘Iolani who earned her BA in Biology with an emphasis on Marine Studies from Occidental College. Currently she is working towards her Master of Science in Marine Science from Hawai‘i Pacific University. When at the fishpond, Brenda works with students from Kamakau through an interactive outdoor learning environment. |

Mr. Ta`ani Wolfgram
Kū Hou Kuapā Cultural Restoration Project Technician
Biography: Ta‘ani is from Waiahole, O‘ahu and is 2002 graduate of Kailua High School. He began his work at the fishpond in June of 2007 in the Kū Hou Kuapā Program. As such Ta‘ani works hard to ensure that the fishpond site is maintained and the wall refurbished. He also enjoys pig hunting, mixed martial arts, and spending time with his `ohana. |
