Na Mo’olelo Hawai’i 2026

Windward Mall ~ Oct 24 ~ 10am

Join us at Windward Mallʻs Center Stage for the 2nd annual Nā Moʻolelo Hawaiʻi story-telling event! Happening on Saturday October 24th from 10am to 3pm, this years event features  activities all centered around our amazing Hawaiian stories. This years theme is moʻolelo centered around Hawaiʻi Island and last years theme was Oʻahu Island. The beneficiaries of this fundraiser are both Koʻolau ʻĀina Aloha network and Paepae o Heʻeia.

Here is a look at whats in store for the day:

  • Opening Ceremony by Hālau Keolalaulani ʻŌlapa o Laka
  • Shared moʻolelo by community members (link below to sign up!)
  • Moʻolelo art fabrication competition by local high schools
  • Mask-Making (purchase your masking making kits below)
  • Block Printing ($15 per item, bring a shirt/rashguard/towel)
  • Hands-on activities and education booths with mālama ʻāina organizations from Koʻolauloa and Koʻolaupoko

We are welcoming any and all who are inspired to share a Hawaiʻi-Island moʻolelo to sign-up and join keiki to kūpuna on stage. No age limit or skill level requirement- just be energized, animated, and have fun!  There is no cost, all it takes is your voice and 5-7 minutes on stage! Click the link below to register for a time slot.

While listening to live story-telling from 10 AM to 3 PM, families can participate in two fun hands-on activities at the event: paper-mache mask making and block printing. Mask kits will be available for pre-purchase starting September 15, 2026. $15 kit includes one paper-mache mask, a box of 10 Classic Colored Markers, and a reserved table. Guests are encouraged to bring additional supplies (feathers, rhinestones, paint, etc.) to embellish their mask.

The block printing will include  paint, supplies, and hand-made wooden blocks by local artists to liven up your favorite shirts/rashguards/pareu/kihei/malo/hand towels etc.  Bring your items to print and we will provide everything else including drying racks so the paint can dry while you sit and enjoy the moʻolelo. Block printing costs $15 and will be collected that day.

This event is a fundraiser for the Koʻolau ʻĀina Aloha network – a network of over 50 organizations, schools, and educational institutions from Koʻolaupoko and Koʻolauloa collaborating to cultivate healthy ʻāina and communities – and Paepae o Heʻeia.

Mahalo to our event sponsors: Kamehameha School, Matson, the Rotary Clubs of Downtown Honolulu, Safeway, Zippys, iHeart Radio, and Carrie Wedemeyer of wedesign.
